How to stream and watch Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Joshua 2, the heavyweight championship fight
In a rematch against former champion Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk will defend his WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight world crowns on Saturday at the Jeddah Superdome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (DAZN, 1 p.m. ET, with main event expected to start at 5:30 p.m. ET).
Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs), 35, of Shypyntsi, Ukraine, won the World Boxing Super Series championship in 2018 after defeating Murat Gassiev. He thus became the first undisputed cruiserweight champion. He moved to heavyweight and beat Chazz Witherspoon, Derek Chisora, and Anthony Joshua after making one defense against Tony Bellew. Usyk won the heavyweight championships by majority decision over Joshua in November 2021.
When the bout was formally announced on June 29, Usyk commented, "I am not expecting anything from Anthony Joshua [in the rematch], but I know that he will be different, but so will I."
Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs), 32, of Watford, England, won the IBF title in 2016 by TKOing Eric Molina in the third round. In 2017, he defeated Wladimir Klitschko admirably to acquire the WBA belt, and in 2018, he defeated Joseph Parker by unanimous decision to add the WBO title. In a 2019 fight against Andy Ruiz that ended in a seventh-round TKO, Joshua lost the titles. Six months later, in a rematch, he regained them back before falling to Usyk.
"It is a challenging sport. It's a nightmare dealing with these lefties. I also cannot commit the same error twice "Jeremiah said. "I am starving and in need, but my performance will speak at the end of the day."
Since his defeat, Joshua has switched trainers. Robert Garcia, who is in charge of preparing Joshua ready to reclaim the belts, is the person he is now training with.
"Everyone on the team and in our immediate vicinity is quite upbeat. Whatever it takes, we must do. In the event that one approach doesn't succeed, we must have alternative plans. We'll be prepared for combat "During the press conference, Garcia added.
On the same card are a junior featherweight fight between Ramla Ali and Crystal Garcia Nova and a WBC light heavyweight eliminator between Callum Smith and Mathieu Bauderlique.
